Caregiving for Someone with Alzheimer’s Disease

Fridays 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm EST

March 15 – April 26, 2024 (except Good Friday)

This support group program is aimed at enhancing the knowledge of family care partners and providing a supportive environment for sharing for those who are caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.  This program focuses on learning about the disease and its progression, how to cope with changes and how to build your own wellness plan while you continue to care.  Participants will explore their own beliefs around the caregiving role and how it impacts care as well as examine what are the current stressors that are impacting your ability to provide and receive care. Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the common symptoms of the disease and how the changes impact care and create stress.
  • Learn about the impacts of stress on caregivers’ ability to care.
  • Relate, share, and gain tips from others who are care providers in a safe and supportive environment facilitated by a Social Worker.
  • Develop coping strategies, build resilience, and develop tools to cope with stress.
  • Develop your own wellness plan.

This program is for family and/or friend caregivers only and is not appropriate for the person with dementia nor professional caregivers (i.e. PSW’s or other private care professionals).
